Who’s behind this

I’m Joe Ferrara. I bought the original Insta360 ONE X in 2018, back when “invisible selfie stick” footage still made people ask how it was done, and I’ve been shooting 360 ever since. Today my main camera is the Insta360 X4.

I started 360 Field Guide because good 360 information is scattered across forum threads, YouTube comments and spec sheets written by marketing teams. This site puts it in one place, with honest notes on what works.

How we review

• Hands-on reviews (the Hands-On section) are only for gear we own and use. Photos and footage are our own.
• Camera pages and buying guides for gear we haven’t personally tested are research-based. We compile specs from manufacturer announcements, cross-check reputable reviews, and say plainly when something is not first-hand.
• No AI-generated product images. Visuals are our own photos or simple diagrams.
• Every spec table carries a “checked on” date, and we re-verify when firmware changes things.
